Help!! Marcie wants to enclose her yard with a fence. Her yard is in the shape of a triangle attached to a rectangle. The area of this figure can be found by the formula A = (wh) + 0.5(bh). If Marcie wants the total area to be larger than a specified value, she can use the formula A > (wh)+ 0.5(bh). Rewrite this formula to solve for b. Show all steps in your work.
@bibby
A > (wh)+ 0.5(bh) we're solving for b which means we want all terms with b in them alone. In this case we just want the bh alone. How would you start?
Divide hw from A
hw isn't being multiplied to anything so you can't divide it. You can subtract wh from both sides though.
Is this the answer: 2(A-wh)/h=b
That's correct.
except it's not the equals sign. we're using " A > (wh)+ 0.5(bh)"
So 2(a-wh)/h>b
I believe so.
Do I simplify h
I don't think you can. That's the simplified form unless you wanna distribute the 2
Okay I'll distribute it
Is it not accepting that answer?
It's for book work. It's not plug into the computer
Ah, half the kids on here are in online school so I wasn't sure.
