For the first, it uses the fundamental theorem of calculus. Basically, the d/dx cancels out the integral, and you just plug in the limits (and you only need to plug in the x limit, since if you integrated, plugged in -17, then differentiated, the -17 part would be a constant anyway) Second one is the same thing as the first.
