Solve the equation. 3(4x + 11) − 3 = 2(2x − 1) Select one: A. −4 B. 2 C. 4 D. 6 I believe it is -4 because that is where it on the x-axis

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, distribute the factors outside the parentheses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its not -4?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmm dunno...

@iPwnBunnies

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Take it slow, do what jdoe said. Expand the problem out, combine like terms, solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but i have a time limit....so i was just wondering if -4 was correct, i graphed it and the line was on -4

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

We don't know if x=-4 right now b/c we don't see what you're looking at. It'll be easier to solve the problem straight up.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Oh, you're taking a test. :o I HAVE BROUGHT SHAME TO OPENSTUDY.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not a test, i'm am studying for a test but i have to go soon

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Oh, ok. I'll just say that yes, x =-4. We can plug in -4 whereever x is into the equation and check.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you
