The black point is (1,1) The red point is where your preimage point will be.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so its (-2,4)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Translation simply means moving a point in a particular direction. Yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh i didnt know what premage meant

preimage
OpenStudy (anonymous):
See if you add 3 to -2 you get 1. And if you subtract 3 from 4 you get 1.
So it's (-2,4) ----> (1,1)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh yeah I figured that out, i just didnt know what that word mean, which i thought would change everything.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(-2,4) is the preimage. (1,1) is the point you get after translation.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok, preimage means the end result of it?

hmm I guess so
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh there you are
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Pre-image is the point before you have made an changes. The original point.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
*any
OpenStudy (anonymous):
umm actaully, isnt it (4, -2)?

If you take (4,-2) as the preimage, try to add up the translation factor i.e (+3,-3) to see if you get (1,1)?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh, right it has to work both ways!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok, thanks for explaining. Hope I wasn't a pain!
