PLEASE HELP!!! GIVING MEDALS!!! Describe what a prism is. How do you know what the base is? How do you know what the height is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

risms are solids (three-dimensional figures) that, unlike planar figures, occupy space. They come in many shapes and sizes. Every prism has the following characteristics: Bases: A prism has two bases, which are congruent polygons lying in parallel planes. Lateral edges: The lines formed by connecting the corresponding vertices, which form a sequence of parallel segments. Lateral faces: The parallelograms formed by the lateral edges. A prism is named by the polygon that forms its base, as follows: Altitude: A segment perpendicular to the planes of the bases with an endpoint in each plane. Oblique prism: A prism whose lateral edges are not perpendicular to the base. Right prism: A prism whose lateral edges are perpendicular to the bases. In a right prism, a lateral edge is also an altitude.

That's only answering the first question? But thanks :)

A prism is a solid with base a shape with from 3 to n sides and a length of any positive number. A prism is a solid which has the same cross-sectional figure all the way

with base a shape with from 3 to n sides? That makes no sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

prism is a 3D shape with 2 congruent sides (the base) that are separated by some height (90 degrees to the plane of the base) without rotation such that all the remaining sides are rectangular. a cylinder is a prism with a circle as a base, 2 circle shaped sides and 1 rectangular side. surface area of a prism is the sum of the areas of the rectangular sides and 2*(area of a base) or the sum of the height times the length of each side of the base plus two times the area of the base. surface area of a cylinder is 2*area of base + area of side = 2*pi*r^2+pi*2*r*(height)
