how do i find the slope for (1,7) (3,6) i think the slope is negative because from left to right its going top to bottom

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

your intuition of a negative slope is good. slope is really defined as \( m = \dfrac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} \) equivalently, we are simply finding the difference in y-values divided by the difference in x-values.

im not sure but i the slope would be 1/2 correct?

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

well, you did tell me the slope was negative. 1/2 looks positive. :)

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

in the math sense, this difference of y-values going left to right is actually a -1 difference, because we are dropping rather than rising.
