OpenStudy (anonymous):

Professor baker wants to mix a solution of 15% acid with one containing 20% acid to get a 25 ounce solution containing 16% acid. how many ounces of the 15% solution should the professor use?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

To find the solute just use: \(Solute=Concentration*Volume=25~ ounces*0.16= 4 ~oz ~of `solute ~(acid)\) The formula for solute is then: \( 0.15x+0.2y=~4 oz \) and volume: \( x+y=25 ~oz\)
