Can anyone help me understand the term " space time".
This question belongs in the physics section, but it can be shown that space and time separation are linked by the value of the speed of light, c. Since nothing can travel faster than c, if two events are separated in space, they are also separated in time. Moving through space at a higher velocity causes time to slow down from the perspective of an outside observer, so again you see that space and time are linked. Hence, in relativity it makes more sense to refer to the two quantities as aspects of a single quantity: the spacetime separation, or "Lorentzian interval"
There's a lot to be said on it, is there something specific you wanted to know?
It's a fascinating topic, if you ask this in the physics section, I'm sure you'll get many replies there :p
So, it is like incorporating time axis to a normal 3D coordinate. Am i correct ?
yes, time can be mathematically treated as a 4th axis in a model of the universe, perpendicular to the other 3 spatial dimensions
Not that that explains the whole concept, it's just one aspect of the model
Ok, What does the shape of time (pear shape model) express. Can you explain about this also, in simple context. ? :)
I don't think I know what you mean by a "pear-shaped time model", I'd have to look it up
Ok. thanks for the space time help. :)
welcome
