How would you solve this and graph it in a rectangular coordinate? f(x)= x^2(x-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solving that equation just means finding its zero. Knowing that you will set f(x)=0 and use some algebra. To graph realize that an (x,y) coordinate is just (x,f(x)). Plug in a value for x that becomes your x coordinate and the value you get is your y. Logically repeat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where would you plug in the zero? 0^2 (0-3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, that is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where would be the x and why coordinates? (-3,0) I do not understand how to make this a graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm assuming you know what a blank graph looks like. Start at the center (0,0) and move units along on the x-axis (the horizontal line) is in leftward direction (because it's negative) and up 0 units along the y-axis (the vertical one). That is one point on the graph. Plug in more values of x to obtain more y values and make a graph.

thank you
