Any equation with this form will need to be squared twice \(x,y,b\ne0\) $$ \sqrt{x}=\sqrt y + b $$ does this make sense?

Do you see the pattern?

Does this make sense?

The equation type, like example 1, needs to square twice both sides in order to solve it. Vy + 1 = V(y + 5) Square first time: (Vy + 1)^2 = V(y + 5)^2 y + 2Vy + 1 = 5 + 2 -> 2Vy = (-y + 6) Square the second time: 4y = (6 - y)^2 = y^2 - 12y + 36 -> y^2 - 16y + 36 = 0 This quadratic equation can now be solved to get y. The answers are: 1, 2, 5, 9, 11, and 15.
