Natural Logs: Can you help me figure out: 5ln(3x)+2=7?? THANKS!

Parth (parthkohli):

First, subtract 2 from both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 5ln (3x)=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure how do to the rest though? Is 3x raised to the power of 5?

Parth (parthkohli):

Right, now divide both sides by 5 to get ln(3x) on its own.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so ln(3x)=1?

Parth (parthkohli):

right. does that ring a bell? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, I get it now it's been a little while since I did these. Makes sense, I wasn't sure if you had to raise it to the power of 5? Must have been looking at the wrong example! THANK YOU!

Parth (parthkohli):

What do you get for \(x\), just to confirm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=0.906

Parth (parthkohli):

yes, or \(e/3\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great thanks!

Parth (parthkohli):

no problem!
