2x+6/4x-8

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\Huge\color{blue}{ \sf \frac{2x+6}{4x-8} }\) \(\Huge\color{blue}{ \sf \frac{2(x+3)}{2(2x-4)} }\) so what would your answer be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says to find the excluded value.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

To find the excluded value.... we know that the denominator can not be equal to zero. So \(\large\color{blue}{ \sf 4x-8≠0 }\) \(\large\color{blue}{ \sf 4x≠8 }\) \(\large\color{blue}{ \sf x≠2 }\) 2 would be the excluded value. (Also known as a "restriction" )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really? That's all you do? :D

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

For "excluded value" yeah. That's it :) if you need the answer factor out of 2 on top and bottom and cancel the 2 (on top and bottom) .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh cool! Thank you!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You welcome!
