Use the Triangle Sum Property to solve for x. Use the value of x to find the angle measures of the triangle. 20, 30, 130 36, 72, 72 40, 60, 80 50, 55, 75

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What do all 3 angles add to in any triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so this means (3x) + (2x) + (3x-20) = 180 3x + 2x + 3x-20 = 180 (3x + 2x + 3x) - 20 = 180 8x - 20 = 180 I'll let you finish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x - 120 = 180 8/8 = x 120 / 8 = 15 so x = 15 2x or 2(15) = 30 3x - 20 or 3(15) - 20 = 25 3x or 3(15) = 45 But that doesn't make sense , what am i doing? e.o

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's 8x - 20 not 8x - 120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooh xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x - 20 = 180 8/8 = x 20/8 = 2.5 so x = 2.5?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

8x - 20 = 180 8x - 20+20 = 180+20 ... Add 20 to both sides. 8x = 200 x = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 25

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now you use that x value to find the 3 angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50, 55, 75

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! ^_^
