Please help me factoring

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

\[s^2-14s+45=0\]

OpenStudy (.whitedragon.):

@iPwnBunnies

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Great to see you here again!! Let's look at that last term, the 45. What are factors of 45, Daniel?

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Thank god I can see you too... 3,5,9

OpenStudy (mathmale):

right. add up 3 and 5. Does that give you 14? add up 5 and 9. does that give you 14? The point is, we need to identify all factors of 45, and then we choose the two factors that add up to that -14s in your trinomial.

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

5 and 9 gives me 14

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

i didnt know it can be just by doing that

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

I think I know the answer already

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

(s-9)(s-5)=0

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

then s=9 and s=5

OpenStudy (mathmale):

P E R F E C T !!!

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Again thanks a lot

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Indeed, nice work!! Take notes on what we did here, so that you can apply the same approach again in the future. Best to you, Daniel.

OpenStudy (danielbarriosr1):

Thanks, I hope I can see you next time
