If K(5, -2) is rotated 90°, what will be the coordinates of its image? K'(-5, 2) K'(-2, -5) K'(2, -5) K'(2, 5)

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

well...we would have to graph this...hold up :)

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

omg -_- Mr. Solomon which way do i rotate it? right or left?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you rotate it clockwise.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

aka -2,-5?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I would do it without graphing. Looking ta the choices, you know that your coordinate is in the 3rd quadrant, and after rotating the coordinate 90 degrees clockwise in which quadrant will it be? the 4th if you rotate 180 deg. clockwise in which quadrant will it result? in the 2nd and so forth... in your case you rotate 1s from quadrant to quadrant, you were in the 3rd quadrant so now you will be in the forth one.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Oh my bad your coordinate is in the 2nd Q

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So 90 degree rotation would put in in third quadrant.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

but you get the idea though...

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

|dw:1396826675394:dw|each of those is a 90 degree rotation, (anticlockwise rotation would be the same but the opposite direction)
