Skeletal muscles are attached to the bones of the body by tendons. These are bundles of collagen fibers that work to keep the muscle systems and skeletal system working in unison. How this works is that the muscle tissue. Essentially this forms at the end of the muscle mass and will attach near the joints of the bones. This holds it in place and allows the two systems to work together to keep the body in motion and mobile. Reference: bioweb.wku.edu
