When a piece of buttered bread falls on the ground, the probability that it will land buttered- side down is 5/6. If a buttered piece of bread is dropped six times, what type of simulation should be used to predict the number of times it will land buttered-side down? A. flip a coin six times and record the number of heads B. roll a die and record the number of times a 1 is rolled C. flip a coin and roll a die D. choose a ticket from a hat with tickets numbered from 1 to 30

Hi! Do you have any guesses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking maybe B... but i am not sure...

OpenStudy (theeric):

I think B is the best answer, but it's misleading. Like, the number of times 1 is rolled would be how many times it lands butter-side up. Both "landing butter-side up" and "getting '1' from a die roll" have a 1/6 chance each trial. So rolling a die can help simulate the bread flipping.

thank you for your help :)
