In "Mowgli's Brothers," why does Shere Khan feed the young wolves scraps, flatter them, and remind them that they cannot look Mowgli in the eye? A. He wants to kill them with trickery. B. He is trying to teach them the Law of the Jungle. C. He loves them as if they were his own children. D. He wants to win their loyalty.

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

It isn't B because Shere Khan himself never followed the Law of the Jungle. It isn't C because Shere Khan isn't kind and doesn't treat anyone as his own child. I would say it's D, it's the closest one in my opinion.
