Graph the following linear inequality: x - 3 y > 3
@ranga @whpalmer4 @jigglypuff314 Can you please him me?
use geogebra, idk how else to help..
what's geogebra?
It's an online graphing site, it's through Java. Look up geogebra online
first do you know how to graph the line x - 3y = 3 ? :)
Ok, thanks @jadeybells uhh, I think so, but probably not lol @jigglypuff314
well you can graph it using the intercept points y-intercept is when x = 0 have you learn this before? I don't what to confuse you :/
Yes, but I don't really remember and I hate graphing lol Do I sub x for 0, then do the same to find y?
yes :) you can plug in x=0 and get the y-intercept then plug in y=0 to get the X-intercept
Ok, let me try & see if I do it right...brb
I got x=3 and y=1
careful :) there is a minus/negative in front of the y right? so you'll get a y = -1
oooooh ok, I see it now, thank you So I just plug those in: (3,0) & (0,-1) How do I know which side to shade?
yes, you would draw those points then draw a line through them to get your line :) then when solving x - 3y > 3 for y if it is a y > (something) you shade above the line if it is a y < (something) you would shade below the line :)
So I shade above the dotted line? Got it! THanks.
