Factor the following trinomial: 2x^2 + 13x + 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what a trinomial is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, 3 terms...I guess that's how you say it.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

... ummm I can try to give an example... like 2x^2 + 7x + 6 factors to (x+2)(2x+3) because the middle terms (4x) and outer terms (3x) add up to (7x) and the first terms (x)(2x) = 2x^2 and the last terms (2)(3) = 6 if that makes any sense? :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I mostly understand it, I just need to figure out which factors to use. Lemme try them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x+9)(x+2)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaaaaaay !! lol
