MIT 6.189 A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python (OCW) 10 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did read already: Python Programming The Python Tutorial What should i do next? Hacking the pellet out of the standart library purposeless isn't really motivating...

OpenStudy (lyrae):

Why not try to make a simple game like Pong, Snake or Tetris? I dosen't realy matter what you choose to do as long as you have a intresting project to work on! Simply writing code for the sake of writing isn't fun at all. Also, why did you choose to learn programming? There must have been something you wanted to create or do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i wanted to create games but i've realized that there's so many cool things you can do that my "game motivation" faded and i got me a bit confused. By the way, i found this really cool website where the guy goes through a program's code and explain everything! And i also found good ideias on Python.org that are cool... Do you remember what kind or stuff you used to code when you were a newb?

OpenStudy (lyrae):

Aaah, I see. That do happen, but if you found even more interesting stuff then isn't it all good? :) My first programing language was PHP. I learned it because i wanted to do back-end (mail forms, member systems, dynamic content etc.) stuff on a website me and a old friend managed together. I went down that road for quite a while and then a couple of years later decided to learn java.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

VB6 was my first language, then many others. I don't get very many good idea of things to make, i like to say i'm more innovative than creative. I can always find a solution to a problem, but can't think of things to write just to write. So i end up helping on forums and things like this. There are also challenge and logic sites, like projecteuler.net and codechef.com that are a lot of fun if you just want excuses to code

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Lyrae: Of course it is! @seandisanti: Hummm, that is a cool way to practice because you help people solve real life problems... Thank you guys for answering me.

no problem, always happy to help
