OpenStudy (primeralph):

What?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Wrong parentheses arrangement.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Come on in and get involved. Supposing you have \[\tan ^{2}x=\frac{ 1 }{ 3 } \]solve for tan x by finding the square root of both sides of this equation. Be certain to write "plus or minus) in front of the right side of your equation (as there are TWO roots).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

(tan x)^2 would be clearer, if you choose not to use Equation Editor (below).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the angle measure for \[1/\sqrt{3}\] ?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@Babybunch: Thanks for offering guidance towards finding solutions. But note, please, that the original equation has TWO solutions, whereas you have only written one expression. Also, it's important that you retain the label "tan x."
