Both FDR's New Deal and Lyndon Johnson's Great Society attacked poverty. How was Johnson's approach different from Roosevelt's? Which was more successful, and what contributed to the successes and failures of each approach?
I asked that question. lol. @pinksparkles
oh lol sorry
whats wrong with the answer u got on Yahoo?? was it wrong??
Nothing, It was helpful but also a little opinionative. Like, "LBJ gave money away and rewarded destructive behavior." What kind of destructive behavior? Can anyone give an example?
"war on poverty." He challenged Americans to build a "Great Society" that eliminated the troubles of the poor.
or.. here's another one.. Head Start, a preschool program designed to help disadvantaged students arrive at kindergarten ready to learn was put into place. The VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA (VISTA) was set up as a domestic Peace Corps. Schools in impoverished American regions would now receive volunteer teaching attention. Federal funds were sent to struggling communities to attack unemployment and illiteracy.
does that help??
oh... and i would say LBJ.... he did a lot more thing than FDR!!
Ok, so those groups that you just named were all started by LBJ?
Why does the person on yahoo say the LBJ "rewarded destructive behavior."?
yeah... there a whole website... do u want to look at it??
No thanks I think I am good there. But do you know why the person on yahoo says that LBJ "rewarded destructive behavior."?
No i dont know it doesn't say anything about it ... but it does say that Johnson won a decisive victory over his arch-conservative Republican opponent Barry Goldwater of Arizona, if thats what they mean??
Hmm. I don't know. Thanks for the help anyway. @faylynn
