I just need to know if I am right: If the equation y = 1/3x + 2 is changed to y = 3x + 2, what will be true about the graph of the equation? A) The graph will shift up 3 units. B) The graph will shift down 3 units. C) The graph will shift left 3 units. D) The slope of the graph will be changed. (The answer i chose is A.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is not correct. The line will still go through the point (0,2)...that is, the y-intercept will be the same because both equations are in the form y = mx + b where b is the y-intercept. Notice that only the m is different in the 2 equations...which is the slope.

I know that y-intercept wouldnt change. So it would be D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, D

k thanks.
