Being an Os user for One month, continuous throughout chat and subjects, I found some users creating new accounts just for asking homework questions directly in the OS sites. After they find the answers some of them use to cheat and spam the site itself from chats and unnecessary tagging. Wondering what kind of action has been implemented by the OS to deal with such activities ?
\(Hi\) , This has been discussed in the past. The staff as an IP Check option that allows them to see accounts on the same IP. Everyone has a few accounts on the same IP - for example, I've used my computer at various schools, colleges and libraries, so I'm bound to have many. However, if those accounts are not directly linked back to you, then you'll be okay. \(\Huge\ddot\smile\) Moderators use this method to track down troll accounts, and find the main account of the user and suspend that one, too. Administrators can IP Suspend/ban, which is a more severe punishment. There has been discussions of certain banishment systems that will disable the user from making visible posts. Of course, this is still an issue, and the best thing to do is discourage the behavior and report it to a moderator. \(\bf\Large\color{#00B4ff}{Open}\color{#7cc517}{Study}\color{}{}\color{#872af0}{~~Ⓐ}\color{#478903}{}\)
Nicely explained by @Compassionate and I totally agree with him. The best thing that we can do for now is to discourage the behaviour like spamming/cheating/trolling etc. and instantly report it to the mods.
I applaud both of you guys... but there are many softwares through which we can create a mask IP address too For example, freegate or Tor. Using them its really difficult to find the IP address as well as login profile details too. So, how to unmask such users ?
Simple - we incorporate a little piece of codding that eliminates proxy servers. 4Chan... Facebook... YouTube... you name it. They all use the same system. It's quite simple. It's just something our developers haven't gotten around to. Site stability is our number one priority.
Wow, thats an good effort, i apprecite that , at least that might help to reduce more spammers ! I was wondering is there any method to Solve "Issues regarding Tagging of links in chat windows" especially, Tiny chat and other chats used by students mostly to find a boy/ girl friend and other relations. Some also use to post bad images as well as links for supporting them or their friends in various communities in the name of vote.
As for spammed links, there a few things you can do to help OpenStudy. • Report all spam • Discourage the behavior peacefully • Remind users about the Code of Conduct • Contact a Moderator • Set a good example for your peers to follow Now, I understand some of these links are intentional (e.g.., the spamming of pornographic imagery, or any other explicit, profane or vulgar content), but the best thing you can do is report it and leave it alone. Do not try to play moderator by saying things like, "I will suspend you," "you will get suspended," and so forth. This will only add fuel. Simply report the conflict to a moderator and walk away. You can try messaging an active moderator. In your report, make sure to put something that will get their attention. They usually take care of the real nasty reports first. There has been discussion of blocking links, but this will ultimately prove frivolous and a waste of time. Links can be easily maneuvered around. For example, www.OpenStudy.com can be rewritten as: www .OpenStudy.com, and the browsers will still accept it. Also, some links are legitimate, such as those to educational websites or references. We encourage posting links to reference work or material, regardless of where it may be. This is to avoid plagiarism.
Umm...that was a valuable part of information. Thanks for the piece of knowledge !
I thought of something, i forgot in between while thinking about an answer in bio question. Well, i'll tag u wen i remember the question... Thank u.. lol
Us Ambassadors are pretty smart (; If you ever need help, don't hesitate to tag one.
Koikkara, there will never be technologies smarter than people and though we can keep looking for technologies to solve this, our power lies in you, my friends. You, the community, together can help keep OpenStudy the way it should be. As a community you can dissuade people from wrong behavior. As a community you have the power of the community. If everyone could live the Code of conduct - these problems would be solved faster than any technology.
Also, Is their any new suggestions or changes possible in chat windows which makes acceptable without sharing personals turning the window to a dating site as well as most of them comes in just for chatting and spamming using the worst topics or about gender topics ! So, wonders what Os have done to prevent dating and non-subject chat ?
Its found students in here make new accounts to dump their questions (mostly hoomework) and dissappears without even giving a try to their questions. They just drops in and is not ready to co-operate with students who are ready to help them. Wonders, how to deal with these Kinds of Queries ?
