The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." What does this mean for the journalism industry?
If i recall well, it mentions "the freedom the press", which states that the Government can not punish you or force you to stand down on your own beliefs to express or provide the audience with what you've gathered (even if it's government info); however, the problem is that such right in an industry means that what ever you publish or do can represent the company you're working on, so many journalist need to be aware of what story they could publish that does not affect or stain the company's name at all. But that's just what i believe it means for the press :)
