How do you turn a decimal back into a fraction? I know how to do it the other way around, but I can't remember how to turn a decimal into a fraction.

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so take the decimal .20 as an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if its a one digit decimal, it goes up to 10 before it becomes a whole number, if its two digits, it goes up to 100, and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in this case its 2 digits, 20, so its fraction is 20/100, and because it had a zero on the end, it can be simplified by dividing by ten, so 100 / 10 = 10 and 20 / 10 = 2 so 2/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Decimal numbers (Decimals) are special fractions which have denominators of 10, 100, 1000 or any powers of ten. Convert 0.8 to a fraction. 0.8 has only one decimal place, therefore the denominator of the fraction should be ten.
