Solve the equation. |k + 6| = 3 A. {–3, 9} B. {–3, 3} C. {–9, –3} D. {all real numbers greater than or equal to –9 and less than or equal to –3}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With absolute value, you can get a negative value and a positive value in between those two lines. So....What numbers could you plug in for k to give you -3 and 3 in between the lines? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um 9..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9 will give you -3. But you need one more value that'll give you 3. Remember that you'll be getting two values as your answer when it comes to absolute value :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can it be 9 or -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its c because absolute value makes the value positive so-9+6= -3 and if it is positive it is 3 and -3+6=3 and it is already positive so therefore it is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ariarose: It's both. Now just match those numbers to the choice that has those two values, and there you go! :)
