generally, if you're talking about statistics, the law of large numbers refers the the tendency of probabilities to approach their real value with large numbers of trials. for example, rolling a die once doesnt show you that theres a 1 in 6 chance of rolling any number. but if you roll it a million times or so, your calculated probabilities for each number will approach 1/6
