That's a surprise. I guess they mean the generation of static electricity by rubbing, but this is stated very poorly then. Sorry.

So, electrons can be removed by the heat caused by friction, because this heat is just energy. Electrons can be excited away from an atom. I suppose this could be interpreted as "using friction to remove electrons," but I wouldn't call it a very good method of doing it :)
