How many solutions does a triangle with values a = 42, A = 117, and b = 34 have? 1, 2, 3, or 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it maybe 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not 100% sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is it done?

@austinL I apologise, I had been asking for help for half an hour and EVERYONE was ignoring me. I got upset, it happens. Will you please help me?

OpenStudy (elisaneedshelp):

I cant help you :( but at least i helped you on telling you you could tag ppl and yeah @austinL do you know what its like when you come here for help and every1 ignores you?

OpenStudy (austinl):

Wait... I started answering on this exact same question and never got a response... Did you close and open the exact same question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sagnikkarkar @acxbox22 @praxer Can one of you please help me? I would fan/medal or anything, I just want to know how this is done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think so. How long ago was it?

OpenStudy (austinl):

It was the one you linked in chat. I started answering, no one replied, so I left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@austinL I see what your talking about, I do have another question, somehow I double posted

OpenStudy (austinl):

Now, I shall re-type what I typed earlier. Have you drawn the figure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@austinL I drew a triangle and put all of the information into it.

OpenStudy (austinl):

Care to draw it on here? Or shall I?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, there, I didn't know I could do this |dw:1397845533890:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@austinL so is there like some sine cosine stuff I have to do?

OpenStudy (austinl):

Are you familiar with law of sines and law of cosines?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm familiar with it, but I don't know it, nor am I good at it...because I don't know it.

OpenStudy (austinl):

Okay... http://www.clarku.edu/~djoyce/trig/laws.html Do you see how we would apply these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm looking at it, I can't comprehend it though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do see that the law of cosines is a2 = b2 + c2 – 2bc cos A, is that important?

OpenStudy (austinl):

|dw:1397846372771:dw| With that you would solve for this side. From there you could use trig to solve for the other angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@austinL What.
