Hello. What's the difference between linear and quadratic equations?

OpenStudy (jack1):

liner equation can be written in the form: \[\large y = ax + c\] ... so 2 coefficients (a and c) quadratic equations take the form \[\large y = ax^2 + bx + c\] ... so 3 co-efficients (a,b and c)

OpenStudy (jack1):

drawing wise, linear equations are straight lines, quadratics are (usually) parabolas
