hi please some help with this probability problem there're in a sack 5 red jelly beans, 4 black jelly beans, and 2 white jelly beans, if you pick 3 jelly beans without put them insede again the probability that the 1st would be black the second would be red and the 3rd would be white is???

OpenStudy (alex6799):

1/11

OpenStudy (pinksapphire):

For red: 5/11 For black: 4/11 For white: 2/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i have to sum those fractions?

OpenStudy (pinksapphire):

What do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean im not beign asked for the probability of each one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i randomly pick 3 so whats the probability that the 1st would be black the second would be red and the 3rd would be white

OpenStudy (pinksapphire):

I guess it would be 1/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i have to subtract those fractions?

OpenStudy (pinksapphire):

5/11+4/11+2/11=1/11
