yeah :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u pleeease help me im stuck ! im like mentle at geometry

OpenStudy (muzzack):

im not good that much at geo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u try or tag some of ur friends to see if they would know ???

OpenStudy (muzzack):

@agent0smith @april115 @arabpride @anitasonia98 @ams98 @Adriana_3001@bubbles-are-cool. @whpalmer4 @esshotwired @robtobey @thadyoung @Taylor<3sRin @Yo_Sorry @undeadknight26 @helpme1.2 @ypichu @CGGURUMANJUNATH @Cydney_Morgan @catkittycool321 @CyberShadow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg that's a lot of people !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thank you!

OpenStudy (muzzack):

your welc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ryancoopz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm, I may be able to help. But I'm not sure what your question exactly is. All I have for your problem is coordinates...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says fid the orthocenter of triangle ABC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find*

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

well first find the slope of lines AB , BC and CA , do u know how to find slopes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really :(

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

ah well , If u have A(x1,y1) and B(x2,y2) as end points of line AB then slope is m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

now can u tell what is slope of AB in the given question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be (10,10) and (4,0) right ?

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

eh no slope is a number , well see in our question we have A (0,10) and B(4,10) slope wud be = difference in y -coordinates / difference in x -coordinates that is slope = 10-10/4-0 =0 so Slope of AB is 0

OpenStudy (arabpride):

idk the answer ... havent done this yet.. sorry >.<

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

now can u find slope of BC ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok? hang on let me see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4??? don't think so but maybe

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

eh no , Well what are the y coordinates of C and B respectively?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b is 10 and c is 4

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

yea! now we will call the later one that is C's coordinate y2 and B's y1

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

now subtracting them will give us? 4-10 = -6 right? is that clear so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I understand

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

ok now what is difference of x -coordinates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 ?if I did it right

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

negative 6 , -2-4 = -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

now divide these two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so "A" and "B" is =0 and "B"and "C" is =-6

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

Oh No! We found difference of x-coordinate = -6 and difference of y -coordinates = -6 to Find slope U have to divide difference of y coordiantes with difference in x coordinates, that will make our slope -6/-6 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I understand

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

now in the same way equation of CA would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on please !!! the schools website is messing up again !!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=-6 x=2

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

yeap now divide em to get the slope!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok?

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

that wud make it -3 , right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

Ok so we have Slopes of all the three sides now! , And what is orthocentre? its the intersection of the altitudes! , so we gotta find the slopes of the altitudes

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

altitude is perpendicular to the line right? and if one line's slope is m1 , then its perpendicular's slope wud be -1/m1

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

so BC 's slope was m1 = 1 its perpendicular's slope wud be -1/m1 that is -1 similiarly CA's slope was m2 = -3 so its perpendicualr's slope wud be -1/m2 that is 1/3 Did u get it so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I quit !!!! I don't know this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i probably never will

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

Eh well O_O not with that attitude , how abt studying basics abt slopes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't have a book !!! im homeschooled

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u not helping get the heck out thank!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not appreciating your tone. Code of Conduct says you should be respectful, after all, we don't have to try to help you. So do you want to try again? ._.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok fine ... hi may u please help me ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of course. Do you know what an orthocenter is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

intersection of the altitudes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to figure out what the altitude is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really
