A fair coin is tossed 3 times in a row. What is the probability that heads appears on only the last toss? 1/8 3/8 3/16 3/4

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Dear EddyAlmighty: Might be a good idea to check that you've copied the problem down correctly. Why? Because no probability can be outside the range 0 to 1. I see you've corrected that already. Note that with a fair coin, the probability of getting a Head is the same as of getting a Tail: always 0.5 or 1/2.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you throw a coin once and note whehter you get a Head or a Tail, the next and the third such event will be INDEPENDENT of the previous event. Thus, all you have to do to answer this question is to multiply the probabilities: (1/2)(1/2)(1/2). Give it a try, please.

i got 0.125

OpenStudy (mathmale):

...which is the same as 1/8. Congratulations.
