A circle has its center at (-1, 2) and a radius of 3 units. What is the equation of the circle? (x - 1)2 + (y + 2)2 = 3 <-- Okay, so I know it's not this one. That was my first go. (x + 1)2 + (y - 2)2 = 3 (x + 1)2 + (y + 2)2 = 9 (x + 1)2 + (y - 2)2 = 9 So we have B, C, or D.
I am under the impression we are using (x - h)(h - k) Is h not the horizontal axis? If so, wouldn't A be correct?
The equation of a circle with center (a,b) and radius r is (x - a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = r^2 For you...a is -1...b is 2 ... and r is 3 Just plug those numbers in.
(x - a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = r^2 For you...a is -1...b is 2 ... and r is 3 Which gives me (x - (-1))^2 + (y - 2) = 3^2 And... (x + 1)^2 + (y - 2) = 9. Right?

For example, this one. I need some clarification. By the way, before we go further, this is FLVS Module IV Practice Exam - I can retake it however many times I want. It does not, in no way, go toward my grade or statistics. The entire exam is a preparation exam to help me understand key concepts and once I know the material on here, I will move forward to my actual exam.

Okay, so I divided it by two, but I feel I should be also multiplying it by 1/3. I remember lesson 9.01 talking about this, but it's not very clear. Can I get some clarity?
