OpenStudy (triciaal):

the LCD of 3, 5 and a is 15a multiply everything by 15a and solve for a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I got 15 I just need help on the last part where I fi d the answer to a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, this may get a little complicated now. The initial equation is:\[2/3 - 1/5 = 7/a\]. What I would do first is find a common denominator between 2/3 and 1/5. This can be found by simply multiplying \[(2/3)*(5/5)\] and \[(1/5)*(3/3)\]. You then get \[(10/15) - (3/15)\]. Now, you have \[7/15 = 7/a\]. You can finish with 15 = a.

where do you get 7 @SeanTrujillo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get 7 from this: 10/15 - 3/15. That is the same as 10 - 3, all divided by 15. And since 10-3=7, you get 7/15
