How would I write KOH with there nomenclature prefixes?
Potassium hydroxide
This is more information that I was given would it still be what you put? If the anion ends with -ide (binary), then you replace -ide with hydro -ic acid with the stem of the name in between hydro- and -ic. The word acid is part of the name, so don’t forget to append it. If the anion ends with -ite (ternary), then you replace the ending e with -ous acid. If the anion ends with -ate (ternary), then you replace the ending with -ic acid.
That would all apply to acids (containing hydrogen cation), but potassium hydroxide is a base (contains hydroxide anion). Bases don't have special names, you would indeed call this potassium hydroxide.
Thats right this naming system is for acids, but KOH is not an acid
Thank you
