What did Globalization cause? (1 point) A. a decline in the U.S. service industry. B. a decline in the availability of goods. C. a decline in the U.S. labor union membership. WILL GIVE MEDAL :) <3

OpenStudy (yellowlegoguy99):

Lol, don't think it's C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Definition of GLOBALIZATION : the act or process of globalizing : the state of being globalized; especially : the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets

I think its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually I'd be more inclined to go with (C). Union membership in the US was devastated as globalization increased and that was before the Great Recession. A number of employers, such in the manufacturing sector that nominally had a high degree of unionization, found unions too expensive to afford. It's one of the reasons a lot of them began outsourcing labor to cheaper markets. Service industry jobs actually increased because they weren't often unionized (anyone can sign up for a job at McDonald's without joining a union, for example), low overhead, and relatively cheap compared to paying for an auto worker on the line which usually comes with health care, union costs, etc.. Globalization also increased the amount of goods that can be shipped anywhere in the world -- it's one of its goals and one of the reasons why corporations are eager to jump on the globalization train.
