I need help with this question! The pyramids at Giza include several square-based pyramids that were built in honor of the Egyptian gods. One of these incredible monuments is the Khafre pyramid, built as part of a temple complex, with the famous Sphinx at its base. The base length of this pyramid is seven hundred five feet, and its height is four hundred seventy-one feet. Massive dimensions indeed! Calculate the volume of the Khafre pyramid. Show the steps of your solution and explain your work.

@xXxUNOQUEPASAxXx That is an answer from Yahoo, I have googled this question to see if someone has previously asked this question. You should not answer someones question with another persons answer.

@ParthKohli Please help

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the volume of a 'cone' is 1/3 the volume of its representative 'cylindar' a pyramid is just a cone from a box ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to know how calculate the volume of the pyramid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This was my answer but I'm not sure if it is right: Volume of a pyramid or a cone is equal to: (1/3) * Area of the base of the pyramid * Height of the pyramid. The base of this pyramid is a square, so the area is: side length * side length = 705ft * 705ft.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so far so good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it right though?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its not finished, but its one the right track

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what else do I need to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do not need to know the answer I need to know how to get the correct answer

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you posted: (1/3) * Area of the base of the pyramid * Height of the pyramid |--------------------------| and computed this part

OpenStudy (amistre64):

finish the computations ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(1/3) * Area of the base of the pyramid * Height of the pyramid (1/3) * 705 * 705 * Height of the pyramid |-----------------| and this is given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1/3) * 705 * 705 * 471?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

of course :) keep in mind that ft*ft*ft = ft^3 as a dimension

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, and one more question. How would I plug all of this into my previous answer: Volume of a pyramid or a cone is equal to: (1/3) * Area of the base of the pyramid * Height of the pyramid. The base of this pyramid is a square, so the area is: side length * side length = 705ft * 705ft.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

... the height of the pyr is given as _____, the calculation is therefore ______.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you described the equation to use, and defined the parts needed to fill it in; then submit the calculation as the result

Thank you so much!!! @amistre64 (P.S. Thanks for not just giving me the answer)
