Why did people sniff bunches of herbs while outside during the Middle Ages? A. to remember a knight who was off fighting a war B. to ward off the devil and evil spirits C. to keep away illnesses such as a cold or the flu D. to avoid smelling the garbage in the streets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

helllo??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't seem to know this answer right off the bat but I do believe it would be answer choice C. I do know that in the Middle Ages there were many illnesses that spread across Europe such as the "Black Death" so it would make sense for the citizens of Europe to sniff herbs to prevent themselves from illnesses. Hope this helps! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Read the paragraph. One of the most amazing features of medieval cathedrals were the stained glass windows. They were made from pieces of colored glass. Most of the stained glass windows in a cathedral told stories from the Bible. Because they were tall, the stained glass windows helped fill the large cathedrals with sunlight. OpenStudy (anonymous):

According to If You Lived in the Days of the Knights, what was the worst nuisance people had to deal with during the Middle Ages? A. fleas B. bad smells C. body lice D. rats

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the answer would be D, Rats. During the Middle Ages Rats were high in population and were a normal pest in all places. Not only that but the "Black Death" was also caused by the infestation of rats, so there's that too. So, I would go with D. :)
