Cellular respiration occurs in BOTH plants and animals. Why do plants need cellular respiration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plants also break down sugars for energy. The light-dependent reactions run inside of cells to fix CO2 into complex sugars is used for structural components, biosynthetic intermediates and metabolism. Plants posses mitochondria and operate very similarly to other eukaryotes in the break down of sugars to fuel the assembly of ATP

Bricemarie, the process of cellular respiration is the breakdown of sugars like glucose to make ATP. The excitement of electrons inside pigments in photosynthesis I and II help run glucose assembly.
