Writing 57 Online

My English teacher gave us an assignment to write a 30-second, "all about me" speech to present to the class. The problem is, I just keep writing it like an autobiography. Also, everyone in our class knows everyone because it's the end of the year so I don't understand the point of the topic..

So can anyone sort-of guide me in writing the speech?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try to sum up your personality. Who knows, maybe they'll end up finding something out new about you... If you like writing it out like an autobiography, that's fine. just try to cut down any unnecessary words, or facts that you think would be a no-brainer to the rest of your class. afterwards, try to summarize it up into one paragraph. Unless of course you are a really fast reader, then I bet you can read your whole biography up in 30-seconds... lol :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How long do you think it should be for 30 seconds?

@Mahina

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get points off if it is too short or too long..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it could be around a paragraph or a little bit more. although if you do decide to write more than a paragraph i would advise your regular paragraph to be around four or five sentences....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how fast do you read/or estimate you read?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Normal speed? I don't know how to describe that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have to "project our voice" and have "voice control" so I guess it would be normal speed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So like 4/5 sentences in 30 seconds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, then I would still recommend limiting your paragraphs to 4/5 sentences. if you still have extra facts you want to share then just try to combine you sentences/ sum it up...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just in case your teacher wants to see your speech, i would reccomend you be careful you don't write any run-on sentences......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I will try to write it from what you said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, hope you get an A+!!!!!!!
