I NEED HELP on yet another infinite geometric series problem. Attachment below.

1 one

@whpalmer4 Maybe you could rescue me on this one too? XD

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

0.6 with a bar over the 6 represents 0.6666666666666... (2/3) Which of those also represents that number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure... Maybe D?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Here's a hint: if you wrote all these numbers out to add them up in a column, the correct answer has only one non-zero number per column...no carrying here!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhh, so A!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

123 = 100 + 20 + 3 ------ 123 we have the same thing going on, but the other side of the decimal point.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

No, they wrote A specifically to trick people who sort of get it :-) Look again at where the zeros are...remember, you line up the decimal points when adding or subtracting, not the right end of the number...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not really grasping it :/ I'm thinking it's C because that seems to be the one closest to my last answer, which you said "Tricks people who sort of get it" up.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

the answer for A is 0.6 + 0.60 + 0.600 + ... If we add those in a column: 0.6 0.60 0.600 0.6000 ---------- 2.4000 right? what we want is 0.6 0.06 0.006 0.0006 ------- 0.6666 ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhhh so it is C. Okay, gotcha!
