6 or 10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sin 30 = x / 15
find x = ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x = 0.5 * 15 = 7.5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sin 60 = y / 7.5
y = sin 60 * 7.5 = 6.5

OpenStudy (tootsi123):
So how would I do this if I have to show it in a fraction with a square root?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
find z using pythagoras theorem
z^2 = 15^2 - x^2
then find y using
sin 30 = y / z
y = z/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
z = sqrt(168.75)
OpenStudy (tootsi123):
So wait what you're saying is that I need to solve for both y and z and then divide?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes, that's because u want to use a fraction and a sqrt
there are several ways to solve this, not just one method, depends how u want to approach it

makes sense?
OpenStudy (tootsi123):
Getting there.. so what method would you prefer or what method would be the best?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
if they ask you to give the answer as a fraction and SQRT then use a method similar to the above with SIN, COS or TAN and use Pythagoras theorem
OpenStudy (tootsi123):
Okay. so Z= 2^42 right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
dear algebra, your x is never coming back, and dont ask y
