I have a Windows 7 Intel student laptop, and my system time on the desktop goes 2 hours behind every so often, but I checked the clock time in the setup and it's fine. Does this mean my CMOS battery is dying, or is it something else? And how would I know for sure if my CMOS battery is dying? Are there any other signs other than the system clock and before it actually dies and your computer won't boot?

Did you remove the CMOS battery, wait about 10-15 seconds, and then put it back? I would try that first. If the battery is not keeping time accurately, that is one sign that the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.

Just for fun, did you check BOTH the time and the time zone?

^ that was it lol thanks
