Can someone confirm if I'm right? I think it's B. Two ad agencies want to understand issues that are important to students. Agency A will interview 50 students whose names are randomly chosen from school enrollment data. Agency B will interview 50 randomly selected people from those who respond to a social media posting. Which method will produce a fair sample of the student population and why? Agency A, because students are convenient and easy to interview Agency A, because names randomly selected from school data will be student names

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ency B, because people who respond to social media postings have strong opinions Agency B, because people who respond to social media postings are usually students

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean agency B or answer b (if you gave A, B, C, D)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks good to me

can you help me with 1 more? A study of college freshmen found that students who watched TV for more than one hour each night gained fifteen pounds in the first semester, compared to those who watched less than one hour. They concluded that there is an association between watching TV and weight gain in college freshmen. Which study design did they most likely use? They most likely used an experiment with students randomly assigned to watch more than one hour or less than one hour of TV each night. They most likely used an experiment with students randomly assigned to groups based on how much weight they gained. They most likely used an observational study asking students to keep track of their TV habits and weight. They most likely used an observational study asking students to keep track of their workout regimen and weight. I think its C but it could be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry, I don't really know. I would hazard a guess that it is C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you learned about experiments vs observational studies?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it would be C then yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Back to the first question. To get a representative sample of STUDENT opinion, sample the student population, not some selected sub-set. A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be agency b and would it be D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I think he is saying that the selected sub-set would be the social media posting. Agency A is randomly selecting from ALL students, where as Agency B is just randomly selecting from people who respond to an online social media posting. The questions asks which method will produce a fair example of the student population

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope buth were right from what I guessed originally thank you timely
