A stone is thrown vertically upwards, reaches a highest point, and returns to the ground. When the stone is at the top of its path, its acceleration __________. is directed upwards changes direction from upwards to downwards is directed downwards is zero

@bennyboy489

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is zero, but only for a fraction of a second, where there is not any kinetic energy, but only gravitational potential energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has an acceleration directed downward due to gravity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, @deepakrathee is correct. From the moment the stone is released, it's acceleration is downward. That acceleration is the acceleration of gravity, and it is never zero.
