Did the treaty of Versailles cause World War II? I read this over and over and I can't seem to get it through my head. What is Mazower trying to say? Here is a link to the document: http://www.mconway.net/page1/page3/files/Two%20Cheers%20for%20Versailles.pdf
I will give you a medal, anything. I just really need help Dx
Woah, a lot of reading. @_@
Tell me about it
After World War I was over, the French wanted the Germans to make war reparations because of the mess they made. All the Treaty of Versailles did was damage the economy of Germany, and return the lands they took from France during the Franco-Prussian War. It brought many loss to the German's Economy. This caused the hatred of Germans against the allied force to rage but the United States aided to the Germany causing Germany's economy to build up. After the Nazis took over, and Hitler became the president, the power of Germany was restored and their revenge took over in creating WWII because of the punishment they had of The Treaty of Versailles. So they went up against French and the countries that allied it.
Well, when I read this article.. Mazower believe that the treaty was an extension of 19th century liberal moralizing that is a combination of British utilitarianism and American idealism. It meant that ideological advance to the world lacking realism that encouraging people in Europe.
Still have a problem? :/
I personally don't think the Treaty started the War directly. Adolf Hitler didn't like how Germany was treated in the terms of the Treaty, but the whole thing didn't officially start till the invasion of Poland? So..
