Solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

add 2x on both sides first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6x ?

hartnn (hartnn):

4 and 2x cannot combine as they are not like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so im at loss

hartnn (hartnn):

km/3 = 4+ 2x now subtract 4 from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 4 and 3 ?

hartnn (hartnn):

like this km/3 -4 = 4 +2x -4

hartnn (hartnn):

since 4-4 = 0 km/3 - 4 = 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright now what? i really dont get this

hartnn (hartnn):

2 is multiplied with x so to isolate x you DIVIDE 2 on both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2 into km/3?

hartnn (hartnn):

you main aim was to bring x on one side, and all other terms on other side of "=" so, since 4 was ADDED to 2x, we SUBTRACTED 4 from both sides since 2 was MULTIPLIED to 'x' , we DIVIDED 2 from both sides thats how x could get alone on only one side of " = "
